• Hello all,

I need help with my website. So a couple of days ago, I downloaded this plugin called Smush (which converts images to WebP files, and has functions such as lazyloading. So for website speed optimization) because lately me, and many visitors have been getting the error “resource limit has been reached. As I was bulk converting my images to webP, my website went offline (resource limit has been reached) but this remained until the next day when I contacted my hosting provider. They told me I should go into phpmyadmin to deactivate all my plugins, then go to my wp dashboard to reactivate them, so I did that. Expect for the fact that I when I would login, I would either get redirected to the homepage of my website without my wp functions showing up, or I would get the little bar on top of the website where the W icon from WordPress is. However, when I would press the W, nothing would happen. The wp sidebar would not show up so I couldn’t do anything. I reacticated the plugins via phpmyadmin, and the issue would continue. I also tried making a new admin account via phpmyadmin, and the same issue would continue.

    Thanks in advance

So many things can be resource hogs in WordPress — Themes, images, plugins, scripts, custom code.

You can run a performance test at, for example, GTMetrix.com to see if that lends any clues. Then address the noted issues.

Another thing could be that you are on shared hosting, which means that you are sharing resources. Who knows what other sites (or how many) are on that box that could be impacting your site.

Thanks. I ran a performance test on Google to show what caused the performance issues (I scored 23/100 which is extremely poor) and converting my images to webP was one of the main suggestions.

Also, what do you mean by shared hosting?

Unless you are hosting the ssite on your own server, Your hosting provider can give you more details of your hosting plan with them.
