WordPress custom fields in Editor
-
I have a client wanting to set up an on-line Gazeteer giving information about all towns in the State where I live. He wants a page for each of around 1,000 towns with a map (google maps expect), the name of the town, an image, and certain other specific info. For this project there will be a small number of contributors. I would want a static page for each Town, and a menu hierarchy using an alpha grouping (eg A – F)> Alpha (eg “B”)> Town name – three levels deep.My questions are:
- Can I customise the back end editor to provide custom fields where editors would enter text to guide them as to what was required, rathr than just a blank screen. I would want to style each field to give consistent look to the pages. This would ensure the contributors all added similar info and ensure it had a consistent look in the front end
- Can WordPress cope with a site having up to 1,000 pages?
I have searched plugins and nothing seems to provide for customizing fields in the back-end editor.
Any suggestions very gratefully received.
Thanks,Pete
