• can somebody please help me figure out how to get rid or at least edit the homepage that wordpress created. I had one that I called “News & Updates”, but for some reason it started mimicking the contact page, so forgetting I had set it to be the home page, I deleted it so I could start it over…unfortunately in doing so it made wordpress create another home page which is not listed in my pages so I can’t edit it since it does not show up in my list of pages…I have absolutely no access to it at all…I want to make my newly created News & Updates page the home page…how can I do this without completely starting over?

The blog I need help with is https://www.probate-trust.com.

okay, I completely uninstalled wordpress from my website after making copious notes as to what changes I had made, plugins I downloaded, page content, etc….reinstalled it and went in and redid everything, only this time the home page was there from the beginning, cannot edit or access it…it is not following the display options on that page that I chose in my theme options, although the other pages are, and everything else about the page is fine…I don’t care if it stays there, but I need to be able to edit and access it…can somebody please help me !!!!!!

Can’t see anything on your URL – but it’s probably set up via theme options – what theme are you using?

okay, I saw where it said that my website was showing a coming soon page and to click here to take it live, so I clicked on that and now the layout is displaying correctly, but all I seem to be able to do on this page is post, which I don’t want it to be a blog page, still doesn’t show up in page listing and still can’t edit or access it

can I turn it into a static page? and change the name from “Home” to “News & Updates”?

thanks !! one last question please, is there a way if I chose to leave it as a blog page to have a introduction paragraph above where the posts would begin?

Two relatively simple ways to do that:

first is to create a sticky post that will stay at the top of the page – https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-make-sticky-posts-in-wordpress/

Or you could use a plugin to put posts on the static page –

so far all I have succeeded in doing is creating a second page called Home which did not take the place of the first one, and confuse myself even more…sorry but a lot of the documentation and directions is rather confusing to someone like me who is a relative newbie to wordpress

Well, there may well be specific things for that theme, so I’d suggest asking here:
