Hello! I have been using your product for a while now with no issues. However, something strange came up today.

When in the page editor for a sales page I was working on, I suddenly became unable to add any images to the page. When I attempted to do so (add media and then upload), the process would start normally and then just hang. If I went back to my page (editor), I saw the following message at the top of the page:

Connection lost. Saving has been disabled until you’re reconnected. We’re backing up this post in your browser, just in case. error

I fought with this and fought with this. Finally, I noticed that I could see the upload progress bar for the image. It appeared, visually, that the image was getting uploaded and then stalling out. So, I started working backwards from there as far as images go. The first thing that I did was turn off Smush.it to see if that made a difference. As soon as I did that, it worked (the image upload and being able to place it in a page).

I do have alot of plugins installed. It is not an option for me to turn everything off and then one by one turn everything back on. So, I am reasonably sure that there is some sort of conflict that is taking place. I don’t know why it would start today as I have not added anything new in some time to my site.

My question is, as a relative newbie, is there any way or tool that I could use to find what is conflicting with your plugin? I use alot of images in what I do, so it is very handy to have this available to me.

    Thanks for your time.

  • Same issue started for me yesterday. Had to turn the plugin off and uploading works fine. I only use a couple of plugins and no plugins have been updated or added. wp-smushit just stopped working correctly after the very latest update.

    Hi @meijin2k,

Greetings and thanks for your explanation of the issue, that definitely helps! The quickest way to find a plugin conflict is indeed to deactivate other plugins and see how things work with that. You can then reactivate them one-by-one to find where the conflict lies.

That’s really best handled through a staging or development site, though if there’s a specific time where the site has little traffic, it could maybe be done then.

Or you could try enabling debugging in WordPress, details here:

That way, you’d either see errors reported through the site or error logs. And that would usually help spot the culprit.

Could you let us know how that’d work for you?

@adrianviz, the above methods should work in your case as well. If you’d like to create a new post, we’ll gladly see how we can help sort it out. How does that sound?

    Cheers,
    David
