WordPress Comments Closed/Leave Page Message After Post Update (no change)

    OK, so I know there’s lots of these similar issues on WordPress comments but not sure if they are all the same root cause. The enclosed is a relatively new install of WordPress. This seems to be happening on a second blog of mine as well, but not sure….

    On this blog I can reproduce and on my other blog only some authors can reproduce. But let’s not confuse and stick to one at a time.

    See screencast link below. All I do is login, goto posts (comments are enabled after quick-edit check), edit and click update. Once the update is done, if I then try and goto another page I get a message dialogue: “confirm navigation – the changes you made will be lost if you navigate away…” which seems errant since changes were just saved. Then when I goto check comments, they are disabled.

    I updated to 3.3.1 and still same behavior. I disabled QuickCache and Disqus and still same behavior. Any ideas? Here’s a pdf of my plugins page:

    Any ideas how to fix/troubleshoot? Help!

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    OK,just went thru this.

    – tried deactivating all plugins – fixed message after update (none came up) BUT comments still disabled
    – switched to Twenty Eleven theme – yes this seemed to fix! OK, will talk to theme provider at Gorilla themes?!
