    Hi there,

I am very new to wordpress and am also very confused right now.

I want to create a website for my business and got started with wordpress.com thinking that I needed to purchase a plan and build my site through that. I had my hosting provider download wordpress and set up a domain and host the site through that. I just realized that i cannot have plugins with wordpress.com, so luckily i was able to cancel my plan and get a refund.
So now, I am in the process of figuring out how to switch to www.remarpro.com
What do i need to tell my hosting provider to change in their settings on their end?
Do the nameservers need to be pointed to something different?
Right now when I go to my site login https://www.charactersunlimitedbc.com/wp-admin, it prompts me to login with my wordpress.COM credentials. How do I make it so it asks for my www.remarpro.com credentials?

Also, because I made little to no progress designing my site, I dont care about transferring any files over to www.remarpro.com.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated. I am very frustrated at this point.

  • Have you changed your nameservers to point to the server your new site is hosted at? I believe you purchased the domain through your host?

Simply manage the domain and find the section where you can change the nameservers of that domain, add the nameservers given to you by your host, they should look something like this:

    ns1.yourhost.com
    ns2.yourhost.com

The process of changing nameservers can take upto 24 hours or so for it to take full effect.

If your host has installed a standard version of WordPress for you, and your domain name points towards it, then it should have no connection with your WP.com account by default.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but if there is no connection with my wp.com account by default, how would I tie my wordpress account username to that website though? Is there someplace where I need to enter my wordpress username and password so that it knows im the admin of that site?

Also, In my wordpress.COM account, I have my site https://www.charactersunlimitedbc.com mapped. Do I need to “un-map”?

Unfortunately I’m not very knowledgable about WP.com as I have barely had a need to make use of it. I would think you would need to disconnect all mentions of your domain within the WP.com admin area to perhaps release it.

Hopefully someone with more WP.com experience may offer some guidance, in the meantime, this documentation may help further.

As far as www.remarpro.com, how/where to I enter my www.remarpro.com username and password so that my site knows to link my account with that website? Does that make sense?

    Thank you for your help!

You don’t link your WP.org account to anything. WP.com and WP.org are two very different things, I think you may be confusing the two.

You don’t need to link your WordPress installation to anything.
