WordPress “Closed” this plugin?

TL;DR; WP Says it removed the plugin because it “has been found to be in violation of the directory guidelines”.

Hmm… actually if I go to devfarm.it, my AV scanner kicks in and blocks the url because of a “PHP:BackDoor-FX [Trj]” infection. Not really a confidence booster…

Hmm… I see that the plugin was updated a week ago (but it is still blocked). So despite the lack of responses from the authors here, it looks like someone is at least still working on it.

This plugin has been closed as of August 17, 2023 and is not available for download. Reason: Security Issue.

Version <= 1.7.05 is vulnerable. You should download the fixed version.

I guess this plugin is abandoned now… Switched over to Waymark myself, also a free and well maintained plugin and even more configurable. For example you can easily add other ’tile servers’. I added a free one that shows aerial photos, not as good as the Google Maps that WP GPS Maps had in the past, but still nice.

Yes, the plugin Waymark looks good. It also has a GUI, which my plugin does not offer.

For me “Leaflet Map”?plugin works fine as an alternative.

Together with the “Extensions for Leaflet Map” I even could keep using the old “WP GPX Maps”-codes (sgpx gpx= …) without having WP GPX Maps installed anymore.
