WordPress can’t see my old content anymore

    My client told me that her website was down and asked to have a look at it. The homepage apeared empty (favicon was still there everything else not). Then I tried logging in and see what the problem wa but the old password didn’t work anymore so i had to reset is using the database.
    Once in wordpress I noticed that all of my pages were gone and the images (media) were also gone. So I checked the FTP to see if there were some obvious problems there. I found the images, these are still on the FTP.

    When i tried putting back the theme and plugins I encountered issues with the theme and a plugin. The plugin was Layerslider and the theme was Nova (https://antonibotev.com/themes/nova/). with both of these activated the site would not load anything but error messages.

    Does someone have an idea how I can get my files and pages back?

    The images are still there in the FTP but I don’t know where and how te get the pages back.

    Hello,

    Is it possible to restore your files from a backup ?

    If you haven’t set up backups, maybe your web host has backups ? I would ask their technical support.

    Hi Jean,

    I asked the webhost and they do keep backups up to 14 days ago, even when you have not activated the module do make backups yet.

    I will try to use one of the backups and I will let you know as fast as possible if it worked or not. Thank you for your response!

    Thanks again for your response, I was able to get a backup of the site but the problem was still there. Turns out the theme we were using was old and unsupported for a couple of years now. So we are now looking for a different solution with a different theme.

    You’re welcome.
    By the way, it’s good practice to do your keep your own backups, preferably on a remote location (Google Drive, Dropbox, FTP server, etc). There are free backup plugins here in the repository.
