• Hi,
THis is such a confusing and weird thing, but on my laptop I cant access my site or my wp-admin log in page. I can access them from my phone and from other computers so it’s not a problem with my internet provider, it is specific to my laptop.

I did see that other people have reported this problem so I hope it can be resolved without too much trouble (other than the five hours I already spent on it.) I didn’t want to try the suggestions in the other threads because they were all over two years old and some seemed specific to things like wordfence and defender which I don’t use, AFAIK.

Really kind of freaked out if you have any ideas.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • WordPress has no feature to block IP addresses.

You’re likely being blocked by either:

    1) A server security tool on your hosting server (managed by your hosting provider). On cPanel servers this is fairly common. Contact your host for help with this.

    2) A WordPress security plugin you may have installed. Audit your active plugins to see if you have any security plugin(s) that may be blocking your IP address.

    Good luck!

Hi George thank you—I will believe anything if I can get this fixed! I’ll amend my statement to “I am being blocked by my own wordpress site!” ??

I have been talking to my host (for 4+ hours) and they insist it isn’t them.

I haven’t installed any security plug ins. Could another type of plug in be blocking me, and how can I tell?

The only plug ins I have are:

    Akismet anti-spam
    Easy Google fonts
    Jetpack
    Post types order

It might be Jetpack, if you have its security features enabled.

Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

Thank you Steve—sorry if this is a dumb question, but will I be able to go back to the Espied theme after I do this?

Just want to know if all the time I spend on this over the last month is going to go away–I’ll still try this but I’d rather know going in!

Yes. I’ve asked you to temporarily disable plugins to see if one of them is tehe cause.

    (@mikkipedia)

yes, I just worried about where you said to switch themes. Off to disable plug ins!

    (@mikkipedia)

ok they are all disabled, but I still can’t access if I am using my IP

In that case, please contact your host.

Here is the message I get on another one of my wordpress sites

Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): (28000/1045): Access denied for user 'username_here'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/enuolbd5vvqi/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1531

Deprecated: mysql_connect(): The mysql extension is deprecated and will be removed in the future: use mysqli or PDO instead in /home/enuolbd5vvqi/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1562

Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user 'username_here'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/enuolbd5vvqi/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1562

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

Unfortunately, that’s a typical host response. GoDaddy has security tools as part of their WP installations, so it’s likely them. IP blocking should not be part of a theme.

Those are other issues. One problem per topic, please.

Hi Steve, sorry I should have explained that better–I can’t log into or load any of my wordpress sites, so I thought that the error message would be helpful

I turned all of the plug ins back on, but when I look at my site (from another ip address) a lot of the content seems to be gone, is there a way to restore it?
