WordPress Backup File To Large To Restore

I ran into a problem with my wordpress site that forced me to uninstall the product from my server and install WordPress again. I made a backup but the file size is 3.7mb (i backed everything to XML file including posts, comments, pages, etc). THe import function in WordPress says the XML file is too large to restore. I have tried backup and restore plugins but most didn’t work or gave me errors as well.

How can i restore a backup of an XML file through WordPress if the size of the file is over the limit? I am completely new to wordpress and use godaddy as my hosting provider. I don’t know much about this and would ask for step-by-step instructions,
