WordPress backend on non-standard URL causes 404 error in root URL

Hi,
I just wanted to say thanks for this excellent plugin that I’ve used sucessfully on another site.

I have another site that I’m not linking to because it’s an adult site ??

The root URL for the wordpress install is https://www.example.com but for security reasons the backend URL is differnt using a URL rewrite;
https://www.example.com/cms/wp-login.php

WHen I set up the plugin my root URL is https://www.example.com/cms and not https://www.example.com

Is there a fix or workaround?
