I was expecting to have the url i registered (from godaddy) be where my blog was located. Now I find that my url is “mydomainname/wordpress”.

Is this because I FTP’d the wordpress directory to my site?

If that is the case, how do I fix it…do I copy/paste all the files into my FTP and upload under the root?

    Thanks

Yes, it’s because you put the files in a WordPress folder.

You can point your site to that folder, however, without moving anything.

Skip step #1, #3 and #6 (basically don’t move the wordpress folder, but do set up the root folder).

but throwing all the files in the root dir. would do the same thing, correct?

I’m reinstalling wordpress again and figured id just do it the easy way.

Sure, though you’d have to update the Options in order to have your files point to the right place.

    Your way works too.

can you advise me on what options I have to change and where?

I got WP reinstalled, but when I try and publish my first post, i get a 500 internal server error. Also, viewing my URL shows me an “Under Construction” prompt….where’s my wordpress page?

    Thanks for the help

ok, so after getting home i tried my URL again and it’s apparently working, except i can’t log into the WP editor….when i try to request a password is says:

The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…

this is nothing but a giant headache…

I never changed my user name from admin to anything so perhaps it’s my own fault, but what are my options here?
