WordPress as CMS :) Trouble with newses.

  • Hi all,
    I want make portal powered by WordPress.
    I need help with news and articles.
    I want making news and choose category, for example computer . The computer page (news category page) will show me all newses in this category, but article category page will show me all articles in this category.

    I want making article and chose category, for example computer too, but i want divide aricle and news in the same category. You know, i`m writing article few days, but news 5minutes. So I want, for example:

    1. News – category computer, adress: mypage.com/news/computer

    2. Article – category computer, adress: mypage.com/art/computer

    What do you think about it? Is it real to do, news and article get the same name of category, but other adress and design of page.


    BTW, if i make many errors in this post – im sorry, I dont live in England, USA etc.

  • You can have a category NEWS and a subcategory computer

    Then you can have another Category ART and a subcategory computer

    There shouldn’t be any problem … two different categories “computer” each one with another parent category.

    But i have got a problem..
    I was doing 2 category:
    news – for all newses
    art – for arcicles

    Now, I`m making subcategory in news – audio:
    mypage.com/news/audio

    It is ok.

    But if i want create subcategory audio in category art (mypage.com/art/audio), wordpress generate error (i translate error from polish language): Category, which you want create , exist !

    So if I create category audio in News , i can`t create category audio in Art.

    I dont know, why... maybe my new wersion of WordPress (2.6.2) cant doing the same subcategory in other category..

    Is it my fault, my bad wordpress configuration or I don`t know..

    Please, help me ;p
