WordPress as a Newspaper CMS

Well I’ve been wrestling wordpress into a newspaper CMS using various plugins and tricks I’ve come across. My site is stabroeknews.com
The only thing left to make it a true CMS is a more Advanced Search Feature. I want to able to search and filter results by category, year, month, and day.
Is there anything that can produce this?
