WordPress And Wamp

  • Well, I recently set up a WAMP server on my computer, and installed WordPress. I Registered on a test account, and i never get an activation email. I am a total noob at this kind of thing. Can anyone help me figure out? Ive heard of SMTP and stuff, but I don’t know how to set it up. Does anyone know how I may set it up?

  • Why would you need an activation email on a local installation?

    WordPress wont work on your local machine unless you install a web server, MySQL and PHP – that is what WAMP does.
    Similarly WordPress can’t send email unless you install an email server on your local machine so no auth email can be sent.

    However, as mark says, you shouldn’t need one on a local machine you set up yourself.
