• Ok, so here’s what I’ve been struggling with for the past two weeks:

I’m running Ubuntu 10.10 on a home server that is connected to a Qwest Q1000 modem/router combo. WordPress is installed in the home directory and is not installed in any subdirectory.

My site https://67.5.135.174/ seems to be working outside of the network, but when I attempt to login to 67.5.135.174/wp-admin from the server or from another computer on the network, I get a 404 error.

The same is true for the internal IP 192.168.0.160/wp-admin and localhost/wp-admin.

Additionally, I can access the home page of my site from inside the network, but it looks strange. It’s all text with no graphics or formatting.

Please help me out if you have experience similar problems.

    I’m at my wit’s end!

    Thanks!

  • I went here: https://67.5.135.174/wp-admin and I got to your login page fine. Your site also looks OK, though there are no images so I can’t tell if those are working. Did you get things sorted?

check your router and see if loopback connections are allowed.

you can’t use alternate addresses to access WP because it uses the home URL and site URL settings to figure out where everything is.

    Thanks for replying!

I looked through the link you posted and tried a couple of things but it still doesn’t really work…
My ports are forwarded, the NAT state is enabled, there are no other security issues that I noticed…

The site still looks fine from outside the network, but I can’t access /wp-admin from my workstation.

Would it be 67.5.135.174/wp-admin, like from outside the network?
Or a different url while inside of it?

    Thanks for your help!
