I guess so. I don’t really know how that plugin works. Maybe it adds Directory Password Protection. One thing i did see about that plugin is it says if you are unable to login to you site then go to the /wp-login.php page.

    Example: example.com/wp-login.php

Have you deleted the wp-admin .htaccess file yet?

And you can always ask your web host to remove Directory Password Protection for you in cPanel.

I went to the wp-login.php but same authentication box pops up.
I did try to go /wp-admin/.htaccess – takes me to the Coming Soon Page
I looked through the Cpanel WP Admin folder to see if wp-admin .htaccess still there but its not.
If I delete the entire site will I be able to use drop box to upload my categories and products?

Never used dropbox so not really sure what to tell you. I assume that you have a full backup of all your files and database and you are asking if you should restore the entire site. If that is what you are asking then yep do the restore. You should not have to delete anything first and just do the restore.

But if this is being caused by Directory Password Protection then the same Authentication window will pop up again. Directory Password Protection is set in your web host control panel. Before doing a website restore contact your host and ask them to remove Directory Password Protection for you.

OK, will drill down on that subject, it makes perfect sense.
Will deleting all the files I did disrupt the website at all if I ultimately have to restore?

Nope, that should not interfere with the restore in any way.

OK, and if I don’t have to restore – all the .htaccess files i deleted won’t affect the site either? Thank you for your help.

Nope, the BPS .htaccess files are not part of this problem and they can be created again very easily later on if you decide to reinstall BPS.

Ok, will see what i find out and let you know. No matter what, i do intend to re install the BPS Plugin. It is not always the Plugin’s fault as the installer is also important. However, the assistance you have provided changes the experience in a very positive way. The Plugin has very positive reputable remarks – by many IT and web developers therefore the free service all the way round is extremely appreciated. Thank you

Very welcome. I think this is going to turn out to be just one of those wierd cPanel issues. All the clues are indicating some kind of cPanel setting issue, but there are other strange sorts of problems that occur randomly like directory corruption/permission corruption or 0 byte directory issues and some other very difficult to troubleshoot issues that are not obvious. So yep let me know what the cause and solution are once you/your Host get this sorted out. Thanks.

All BPS Problems are solved by deleting the BPS plugin and deleting the root and wp-admin .htaccess files so when those things are done and the problem is still occurring then BPS was not being naughty in that case. ha ha ha. ??

Good morning, I am pleased to advise, all issues have been sorted and they were not related to the Bullet Proof Security Plugin. The plugin had probably simply highlighted a brand new feature which the host had just released as extra user protection – Hence why the Authentication box kept popping up. Therefore, Plugin wasn’t naughty, I wasn’t naughty ?? and you were perfectly correct with your indication. I will certainly be re installing the plugin again. I thank you for your attentive and helpful service, appreciating that your time and effort is free. Thank you ??

So your Host was being naughty then. ha ha ha. ?? Thanks for posting that everything is now figured out.

Spot on !!! Very naughty.. he he he ?? ….Thank you again!
