• Why do I need a nag telling me “New Custom HTML Widget. Did you know there is a “Custom HTML” widget now? You can find it by scanning the list of available widgets on this screen. Check it out to add some custom code to your site!”

I don’t need this nag or any others like it. How do I turn them off?

  • Is there a dismiss button on the message? If so, does it reappear after dismissing?

The way to disable entirely depends on the source of the message. Sometimes they are generated by the theme, sometimes by a plugin. You can find out by switching to a different theme or deactivating plugins one at a time to see when the message disappears. Then you can contact the author of the theme or plugin, or go into a support forum, and find out the best way of disabling.

This is from wordpress and not a theme or plugin. WordPress seems to think it needs to say “look at me” every time they do something new. I don’t need that. All it does is slow the process down of building a site.
