WordPress admin logging me out often!

    Hello,

    WordPress keeps logging me out every 10-15 minutes automatically. Especially if I go to view the page itself and the attempt to go back to the admin back end it brings me back to the login page and then my username and password are no longer valid!

    I have to wait until the following day to login again. Even if I refresh my browser it still won’t log me in on the same day after I’ve been logged out. This makes it impossible to update the site when I can only work on it for 10 minutes a day.

    Please, if anyone knows why this is happening it would really be helpful to me!

  • Things to try:

    Do you have any security plugins running? Check the settings.

    If your email account is set to auto check for emails on your server too often the server may perceive this as an attack. In my case I changed the frequency from 1 to 5 minutes to resolve the problem.

    Can you check the server logs in your host’s cpanel (or equivalent) / logs to see if they give any clues.

    Ask your host’s tech support if they can help as this may be a server issue, not a WordPress issue.

    The url to my site is https://paintingbyjoey.com/
    I will check with my host and let you know if that resolves anything. It’s still logging me off after about 10 minutes no matter what.

    Hopefully I can find a solution.

    What settings have you got at Admin page > Settings > General > WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL)? I would expect to see these settings exactly the same as https://paintingbyjoey.com/ not https://www.paintingbyjoey.com/ ? Take a backup before altering either of these settings as that could make it better or horribly wrong.

    Hi,

    I checked everything you said. the site address url is https://paintingbyjoey.com/
    And I spoke with GoDaddy who is my host here and they tried to troubleshoot and after trying different browsers, clearing the cache having them look into it they cannot seem to duplicate this problem.

    Is there something else that you can suggest? Does www.remarpro.com have issues with mac IOS Yosemite? That’s the only thing I recently changed about my computer that I can think would give me this problem, other than hosting but they say there is no issue on there end.

    I’m sorry I have no further suggestions. Hopefully someone else can come in or you may have to hire someone.
