WordPress Adding extra / to upload folder

I recently changed my primary network site over to a new one that I want to use and now on the former site. The uploads folder is showing as

/wp-content/uploads//sites/1/2016/10/

I changed the upload path in the site settings but wordpress is still adding in the extra slash between uploads and sites. Would anyone have an idea where its coming from? The images still show up even with the extra slash in but it’s very bothersome.
