WordPress a good choice for Mac users?

  • Hi, I haven’t installed WordPress yet and am wondering whether it is really recommended for Mac users. I want something really simple! I saw that several people were having trouble with blogs and having to resort to code.

    Agreed. I use a Mac with WordPress and it works just fine. For your host, I’d recommend Linux web hosting over Windows.

    ..and by the way, if you’re asking because you want to use the server that comes with your Mac to host your own site, then yes, it’s fine. Again, it’s all in how you have the *server* set up (and oh for the love of God…don’t use Windows servers if you buy hosting elsewhere!)

    I am thinking about switching to a Mac, but have a question about how Mac users post to WordPress

    I currently use Microsoft Word’s “New Blog Post” feature to write/edit my articles before publishing them to my WordPress site. And from what I can tell, the Word for Mac program does not have this feature. It is key for me as it allows me to spell check and get things right.

    My question to Mac users: how do you write and edit your material for your site? I am not interested in using the WordPress “write” function unless I’m forced.

    I write my posts in TextEdit, which is a text editor (with spell check) included with OS X. I style my posts and add links/images/videos in WordPress.

    Okay, I’m a PC user who just installed WordPress for a friend with a Mac, and I’m having some annoying problems posting documents, pdfs, and images, with WP 2.7. I wonder if you all still feel the same about WP?

    I’ve seen others post about this as well….

    I have MAC clients and none of them have any issues as far as posting, etc.

    If you’re having trouble with the files, check your upload settings.
