• On 11th may 2023 , I was trying to check and update the plugins I have installed , but there were no update available on the my site even though they are available on market. And some plugins updates are available but I was facing issue as ” Update failed: Download failed. Unauthorized ” , even though all the permission and owner was correct according to the standard practice. Also in debug logs there was a issue which states

“[11-May-2023 13:10:11 UTC] PHP Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.remarpro.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to www.remarpro.com. Please contact your server administrator.) in /var/www/html/Projectname/wp-includes/update.php on line 728 “

and on the next day the issues was automatically removed when I have checked. and all the updates are visible and able and no issues were present. As I haven’t made any changes from my side , I am not sure how the issue is solved.

What “market” are you referring to?

Note that the WordPress project only handles updates for free themes and plugins downloadable from www.remarpro.com.

Every commercial plugin or theme handles its updates independently. Most will require you to enter some license key for updates to show in the dashboard and to be able to update the product.

” Update failed: Download failed. Unauthorized ”

This is referring to authorization to download the plugin/theme from the vendor’s server… and not permission of files on your server.

If you purchased any commercial theme or plugin, please get in tough with the product’s vendor to enquire about how you may update the product in question.

    Good luck!

thanks @gappiah for the guidance. I was referring to the free plugins that I am using for the site. And the new version are available when I checked information about the plugins which are available on www.remarpro.com. But update option was not available on my site.
And the authorization issue was there for few plugins which shows the update option.

Please mention one of these free plugins — specifically one that showed this “unauthorized” error — so I can dig deeper.

    Standing by.
