• Updated to Google ReCaptacha v3 with the major downsite that now Google keeps track of visitors on every single page of my website (and not only the contact form page as it was with Google ReCaptcha v2). Spend a minute to think why Google rolled out v3… more user data.

Since no support for v2 was included in the latest Contact Form 7 update, updated to v3 and then received spam on a daily basis. Then the spam stopped. Today I checked the contact form and it is not sending any mails: “Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method.”

https://contactform7.com/2018/12/18/contact-form-7-511/ mentions: If you get into such situations after upgrading to 5.1.1, you are advised to ensure that the theme you use properly loads JavaScript in the footer area of each page.

But no exact steps to check for that. Will ping theme devs but this situation is quite messy. I do not understand why no choice is given to users to stay with recaptach v2.

Until this is sorted in a clearer way and I better understand if v3 allows google to track further user data since they are then on every single page of the website, I will stick with 5.0.5 and v2.
