I would love it if this theme got upgraded for WordPress 5, thus allowing the use of all of the new Gutenberg blocks, as it’s my favourite minimalist theme to date and I’d like to keep using it. I find it similar to more recent themes such as Rich Tabor’s Tabor & Coblocks themes, yet I prefer the functionality of Scrawl more so, especially the slide-out sidebar which works great when viewing the site on a tablet or phone.

    Hi there,

Most standard Gutenberg blocks should work in this theme, except perhaps for a few that need special styling.

Which specific blocks are you trying to use that aren’t working for you, and can you please describe exactly what isn’t working?

Hi there. I’m referring to the “align-wide” support specifically.

I’ve found a couple of articles that explain how to do it by adding the align-wide code to the function.php but the CSS doesn’t seem to work. It makes most images shift left but not expand to the right as well. Again I’ve tried a few variations.

PS. BTW I’d be fine using another theme that emulates Scrawls layout & functionality (ie slideout sidebar for desktop & mobile) but I haven’t found any that have been upgraded to have full Gutenberg support yet.

Actually don’t worry about it. I found and purchased the Authentic theme from Code Supply Co which has an Off Canvas sidebar and Gutenberg support. It also has a fricken amazing amount of customization features which I can build upon and use over time.

Thanks for letting me know you went with an alternative.
