Our school’s site is hosted by GoDaddy and they recently auto-updated to WordPress 5.9. Everything seems to be working fine, until….

I went to sync and work on the Devsite, as we are looking to update the websites look and function. That’s when we discovered that the site was broken and through plug-in elimination discovered the issue was between WP 5.9 and Sensei LMS.

I sent a message to the brains behind Sensei but I also wished to put this out there. My concern is; when will our original published site break? Running a school with online students, this is a real issue.

Are there any solutions out there in the Forum?

  • Hello!

Could you clarify how is the site broken, and if there are any error messages?
We released a new version yesterday which has been tested with WordPress 5.9, but recent Sensei versions should also have been working.

    Hi Peter,

I finally got Sensei to load with my new WP 5.9. However, Sensei just offered an update which I complete that now offers a NEW LEARNING MODE for students.

So….. When I select the LEARNING MODE item setting, I test the lesson with the PREVIEW LESSON LINK, and I get the following error: “There has been a critical error on this website.” Then I uncheck the setting, and try to Preview again, the site works. I tried the following to fix the error:
    1. Flush Template Cache
    2. Fuse Server Cache
    3. Edit the LEARNING TEMPLATE and Save
    4. Edit the Lesson again and Preview

Nothing works to correct this issue. Short of going through the PLUG-IN deactivations again all I will find out is that the LMS is breaking the site. (As I discovered before)

I am using the latest update of MESMERIZE as by overall Template, which will not go into its CUSTOMIZE mode when Sensei is active. I have reached out to the developer of the template in that issue. It was going through the steps to isolate the problem plug-in that lead me to Sensei as the culprit. I was hoping that Sensei’s latest update would have corrected that problem. But it did not.

So as it stands I cannot use the latest LEARNING MODE in Sensei, nor can I edit/add or change my website with Sensei installed.

    Hi @circuitcycle

Apologies for the trouble and thank you for reporting the issue!

We believe we have determined the cause and we are testing a fix for it now. We hope to have it released by the end of the week – very shortly ??

We’ll up this thread here once resolved.

    Best,
    Alba

    Hi @circuitcycle,

We have released Sensei 4.0.2, which includes fixes for a lot of issues reported so far, some of which seem to be related to the issues you were reporting.

Would you try updating to the latest version of Sensei and see if the issue persists?

    Thanks! ??
