• I’ve noticed something new in WordPress 5.8.1
When writing a blog, in the “Publish” panel, there is now a “preview” of sorts in the editor view for blog post.
You get the Status, Visibility, Revision, Published on, and now you get this text that appears before your “Read more” line. So you get the text of your blog post showing and you have to scroll down until you finally come to your Publicise settings and your Update/Schedule/Publish button.
    That next is ANNOYING.

How do we turn OFF this feature so we don’t see that text on the “Publish” panel?

(I run multiple blogs and it’s going to drive me batty if I have to deal with this on multiple sites that all deliberately have long excerpts.)

  • I’ve read your post a couple of times, but I’m still not sure I fully understand the problem.

The PREVIEW button has been with the new default editor (aka Gutenberg) since 5.0. It’s certainly not a new thing in 5.8.1.

And below is a screenshot of the right column of the editor, on a website with just the default Twenty Twenty-One theme and no plugin installed. Can you please direct me to the issue you’re talking about so I can dig deeper into it?

NB: Please note that if the problem isn’t evident in my screenshot below, then it’s not part of or caused by WordPress: it’s either from your active theme or one of your plugins, and that’s where you should be looking for a resolution.

    Standing by.

Thank you for your response, but I probably should have added that I’m using the Classic editor interface.

I’m unable to just share an image of what I mean, so I’ve done the best I could to take a screen capture and link to image.

Image showing what I’m talking about.

It’s annoying and frustrating. How do you turn this off?
