• Hi, I do not use Gutenberg, I use “Disable Gutenberg” of “Classic Editor”.

With both, since the update 5.7, comments are deleted automatically!!!

If I am not sure, to keep that section or not I use html comments
    <!– keep or delete? –>
Since the update to 5.7, if I switch to visuell view and back to text, ALL IS GONE!

What the hell happened there? Please fix that! I use it on at least 10 Websites.

    Thanks, Brisch

  • Hi, just checking incase

    You say
    <!– keep or delete? –>

but that is not an HTML comment a comments would be
    <!–- keep or delete? -–>

I assume that is what you mean?

Yes, thanks, this is what I meant.

    <!–- keep or delete? -–>

I tried in a clean 5.7 install with just ‘Classic Editor’ and could not replicate what you described. HTML comments stayed for me.

Have you tried in default theme with all other plugins disabled to rule out conflicts?

Are you aware you can test like this ( disable plugins & set default theme )
without the frontend being broken by using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin?
