• Shortly after installing the WordPress 5.1.1 update, whenever I add an image, gallery, or custom HTML block in a page, and try to save that page, I get the following error:

    “Updating Failed”

As soon as I remove the image, gallery, or custom HTML block from the page, and click save, the page is saved with no errors.

  • Hi, i have try now and don’t have this problem

I’m troubleshooting. Disabled some plugins. Issue persists. When that didn’t work, I went to Cloudflare to purge all cache (just in case there was a conflict).

Can’t even load any of the tabs: Cache, Speed, Analytics, etc. over at Cloudflare. I think Cloudflare is having issues.

Unsure if it is related with the wordpress woes at the moment.

Update: The Cloudflare issue was resolved. I purged the Cloudflare cache. Later, I turned off all plugins.

I added a Gallery block with 1 image. Pressed “UPDATE” to save the page. The same error persists.

At this point, I have to suspect it is a wordpress 5.1.1 bug.

Another possibility might be the recent Redirection Version 4.2.3 plugin that updated the database — but I can’t see how that can affect the use of Gallery, Image, and Custom HTML blocks — and only those.

Without those three blocks, I can post as normal.

This problem started happening to me since Tue, April 23.

Same problem for me on only one site which implies to me that a plugin might be the cause. I noticed that even with the error, my changes were saved. I have not tried uploading anything.

The problem is Yoast SEO. When disabled, everything worked fine. It must be conflicting with some other plugin.
