    Hi @atomikpop,

Unfortunately, Secondary Title is not yet compatible with WP 5.0. Maybe that’ll change in the next version.

    Sorry!

how long to update? need this!

WordPress 5.0 was dropped with only three days notice from the release leads. A lot of plugin and theme authors are scrambling to get things updated for the new block editor. ??

In the meantime I’ve been using the Classic Editor plugin just to edit secondary titles and then switching back to the 5.0 block editor for writing content.

@chrisdavidmiles Yeah, it was the worst decision WP has ever done so far.

As you write, using the Classic Editor plugin to edit a secondary title works. I’ve uploaded a detailed announcement here: https://www.koljanolte.com/wordpress/plugins/secondary-title/announcements/2018-12-12.html

In the meantime, I’m working on a fix.

@thaikolja your plug “secondary title” is great. Please make it compatible with the WP latest version as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.

I’m using your great plugin on a news website. I’m waiting for the update to 5 WordPress version too. I hope it will happen soon!

    Hi all,

I’ve fixed it. However, it’d be a huge help if I had a couple of users to test it before I update it officially. Any volunteers available? The new editor is technically quite different from a technological point of view than the standard one, that’s why I’d rather not upload a buggy update.

    Thanks!

Hi, I’m available to test it!

@thaikolja Yes I can test it.

I’m happy to test it as well.

I can test as well. Link to code?

    Hello,
I am building a site where I need a secondary title in a non roman font with a different font-type than primary.

Your plugin would be very handy.

I would be very happy to test it with WP 5.1 while I am building this site.

    Hi @canayou,

Thanks for your willingness. Do you use the Gutenberg editor? Because that’s what has to be fixed and tested.

    Hi @thaikolja
Yes I use Gutenberg for that website.
I tested your method with Classic activated/deactivated but you can imagine
    I’d prefer a more direct way…
I think my work in progress for that site is ideal to make some tests.

@canayou: I see. Well, as you’ve probably read on the quick fix documentation page, I’m not very fond of the new editor. But some users are, so I have to come up with a fix.

I have two approaches: One is more like a jQuery hack that inserts a text field for the secondary title above the main title field, similar to the old editor.

The other solution would be creating a block. But blocks don’t allow to be placed above the main title which would make it look a bit awkward.

    Any suggestions?
