WordPress 4.4 Shopp 1.3.10 = PayPal Pro / SSL error

    I upgraded WordPress to 4.4 and Shopp to 1.3.10 and am now getting the following error on the Checkout page:

    Please correct the following errors:

    PayPal Pro: Could not connect to the payment server. SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines: SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE: certificate verify failed For help with this, contact the website administrator. (WP_HTTP)

    I downgraded back to WordPress 4.3.1 and can process orders again.

    Can anyone provide insight?
