• Hello, hoping I can get some assistance. This has really perplexed me.

Quick notes: I’ve already done a fresh install of WordPress and tested this issue in the default theme. I’ve also seen a lot of threads on this issue for WordPress 4.3 that should have resolved in 4.3.1, but the problem seems to be persisting for me. I’ve attempted to see if 4.4 resolves this issue and it does not, so I reverted back to 4.3.1 for now.

    Here goes!

My images are broken on both the front end of my site and the Media Library. I’ve attempted multiple suggested fixes on these forums to fix it but none seem to work. I can make a partial solution by using the CDN option in W3 Total Cache, but only some of the images on the front end appear and they still appear to be broken in the Media Library.

These images do exist and my folder permissions are set correctly. I upgraded to 4.3.1 since this seemed to be a known issue with 4.3 but the issue persists. Anyone who’s experienced this issue or could offer insight is much appreciated!

  • Hi lorecast,

You said you already checked folders and files permission.

Do you use “All In One WP Security” plugin?
Could you list up installed plugins in that site?

    Hi,

It’s a permission issue, if you are not familiar with it, you can contact your hosting provider for help.

    @chris_dev, my plugins are:

    Disqus Comment System
    Envato WordPress Toolkit
    NextGEN Gallery
    Redux Framework
    Theme Station Podcasting Feed
    Theme Station Shortcodes
    Total Poll
    W3 Total Cache

I disabled/enabled them to see which were causing the issue and none of them seemed to be the culprit. W3 Total Cache briefly helped by allowing me to connect to the image files via a CDN but it doesn’t resolve the issue with images being broken in the Media Library.

It’s been a puzzler. Also, would you not recommend All In One WP Security plugin?

@peter, had an online chat with my server provider and it took some prodding, but they admitted to some sort of issue and they’re working on it. I’ll post the resolution.

Just wait for their response. Your images show 403 error – permission, so it has to be fixed and everything will be ok ??

@lorecast, I really recommend the ALL In One WP Security to use for security.
but sometimes that plugin’s firewall feature occur 403 permission error that’s why I asked you whether you’re using it or not.

Hopefully your hosting company will fix this issue ??

@chris_dev Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll definitely install that once this image mess is fixed. I took a look at the features and support and I see good things.

@peter Thanks. Currently in contact with my server provider. Took a little convincing to make them realize I wasn’t improperly linking the images.

I’ll post the final update once this is resolved (fingers crossed) so if anyone is having issues with WordPress 4.3.1+ hosting on Bluehost, they can skip the frustration of trying to figure it out and go straight to a solution. For the record, I recommend contacting Bluehost directly on Twitter, their response and resolution time is much quicker.
