I received an email from my VPS just now which said that my WordPress was automatically updated to 4.2.1

But now I cannot visit my panel!
Once I click the link to the panel, it says that “You do not need to update. The database of current WordPress instance has already been updated to date.” (my WP is in Japanese, I translated it to English) And if I click the continue, which is the only button, it then go back to the index.

What should I do now? Please help, thanks.

  • I also received an email saying that I was automatically updated to 4.1.4. But I cannot access my dashboard to make changes to my website. Every time I try to access the dash board it says
“No Update Required, Your WordPress database is already up-to-date!” when I click on continue it keeps taking me back to my homepage.
Im concerned as my website is not suppose to be published yet as I am still working on it and have a plug in call “website coming soon” but I cannot see this highlighted anymore.
I need to make necessary changes to my website and loosing valuable time.
I have read the links above, but cannot access anything under admin to disconnect plugins (as suggested) to see which one might be in conflict.
    Please advice
    Thanks

    @laliz

    Thanks for reminding.

It’s strange that I had tried clearing cookies before I posted as it did not work, however, I cleared it once again just now and then it’s ok.

Anyway, it works great now ??

Frederick, mine is doing this, too… The button is a lie, it just links back to the home page.

How did you get yours to work? I’ve tried from several devices and it sends me to this screen.

I’ve removed cookies but still not working, does anyone have any suggestions please?
My website is now live and shouldn’t be as Im still working on it! arrghhh….
    Thanks

    FIX:

“If you did not do that and you’re locked out of wp-admin, or simply want to directly run SQL lines, use the following –

    DELETE a,b,c FROM wp_posts a LEFT JOIN wp_term_relationships b ON (a.ID = b.object_id)
    LEFT JOIN wp_postmeta c ON (a.ID = c.post_id) WHERE a.post_type = ‘revision’

    Then run a DB optimize.

Let me know if there is a fix, I cannot access
my admin panel since the update

I don’t know anything abut running SQL lines – Can you share a link to instructions on how to do this?

My site is still up, but I have lost the ability to log in. I just get the screen that says my DB is up to date. Then if I click continue I am taken to the homepage of the site.

Please let me know if there is a way to fix this so I can get into my admin panel again. Thanks!

The fix did not work for me.
I have only few posts (5 pages).
I must say I can’t run an optimize (or seem not to be able), since we are on azure.

How can I rollback the upgrade?
