WordPress 404 page not working in IE 8
-
I’m running WordPress 2.7.1 and I have a custom 404 page for when someone enters a URL that doesn’t exist on my server. The custom 404 page has always worked in previous versions of IE, but then I upgraded to IE 8 and it stopped working reliably with that browser. When IE 8 users try to visit an invalid URL, sometimes the custom 404 page shows up and other times I just get the default “this page cannot be displayed” page that comes with IE. Any idea why this is happening? It works sometimes but not every time.
My custom 404 page seems to work fine in all other browsers that I have tested it with.
The easiest way to recreate this problem is to visit a non-existent page on my blog, for instance, the URL https://abroadinspain.com/why-doesnt-404-work should suffice. As you’ll see, the custom 404 will appear in any browser except for IE 8.
Thanks in advance for your help!
