I have a site (bryandunnewald.com) using Thesis and a GoDaddy server. I recently upgraded to WordPress 4.8 and when trying to edit page text, the editor doesn’t show any text or edit options. The text is still there (it appears on the site) and is even editable, but only if I highlight a random section searching for what I need. Once I find it, I can edit but not see what I’m typing. It’s as if the editor were stuck in Text mode (no visual) and the editor only displays in white text, only appearing against the white background of the editor (not the actual site) when highlighted.

I have updated all plugins and themes, have emptied the browser cache (I use Safari) and tried it in Firefox too. I have disabled all plugins and tried the error console. All this to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

  • My visual and text editor tabs are missing. This happened about a week ago. I have been reading through the forums and tried all the fixes recommended. I deactivated all plug ins, this did not help. I reactivated all of them with the exception of Jet Pack as there was discussion that this was the problem, but that did not fix the problem either. I tried different browsers, did not help. I am new to this, I have not even activated my website. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

You will most likely get a “friendly” response from someone asking you to create a new topic on this since it’s considered “resolved”. But I will ask you, did you try the Concatenate Scrip listed on page one of this topic? Are you using the NextGEN plugin? If so, did you try the recommended plug-in fix from Imagely for IE11 users listed on page one of this topic?

Here’s a quick fix. Go to your user profile. Check the box that says “Disable the visual editor when writing” note* it may ask you to create a nickname. Click save and then uncheck the box and save again. This should fix the problem. Make sure you clear cache after if your using a backend cache like Redis.
