works for me, have you tried to temporarily:

    – deactivating all other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems

I’ve discovered that I can choose to display the calendar, but then if I go and change ANY other option (and leave the calendar option alone) it reverts to no calendar.

Somehow when loading the settings page, the radio button for NO calendar is chosen, regardless of your current setting. So if you change a setting, on any tab, go and re-pick YES calendar, and it keeps working.

    Have you tried Angelo’s suggestion?

Actually, I’ve tried a gazillion things, to no avail. It’s GOT to be something with my install. I made a brand new wordpress on another domain, just for testing stuff out on. I installed ONLY EM, and it works fine. So it’s not EM.

I also deactivated the plugins on the problem site, and EM was still being weird.

The thing is, I then proceeded to install all the other plugins that I have on the site I’m working on, to the test wordpress, and it still works fine on the testing site. I then switched to the theme I wrote for the problem site, and it still works on the testing site. I dunno, but I doubt it’s related to this topic after all.

Is there any other difference between the two sites? A different WordPress version, for example?

Same WP version (3.9). Different host, though. The problem site is on hostgator, the working testing one is on bluehost.

I’m going to probably completely duplicate the problem site on the same host, files, database, cpanel settings, everything. See what happens. That duplicate, not being live, I’ll also be willing to try more drastic things on.
