WordPress 3.9 – Add Media not working (resizing images to 1×1 px)

    I’ve had an issue with the Add Media feature since 3.8 and was hoping 3.9 would remedy the issue. I updated today and the problem still persists.

    I’ve seen a lot of threads started about images not being added, which is what I thought was happening to me. I then discovered that they were being added but for some reason automatically being resized 1x1px which is why I couldn’t see them. I assume that this may be the case for others who are having trouble with add media not working, the images are being added but at 1×1 so they don’t think they’re there.

    Anyone have any suggestions as to fixing this? From other threads with similar situations it doesn’t seem like there is any real answer, but those are all under the impression that there is no image rather than one at 1×1 pixels.

    Things I’ve tried:
    – Clearing all caches
    – Disabling all plugins
    – Re-adding media
    – Deleting and creating new page
    – Thumbnail regen
    – Switching themes to default TwentyFourteen

  • Have you tried switching to a default theme such as TwentyFourteen?

    Yes I’ve tried that too (forgot to add to list) and I still get the same result.

    I saw the 1X1 pixel image. I right clicked and selected view image, I was able to see the full image. Now when I browse your site, the image loads fine.

    Actually, now it’s broken again.

    I’ve found out that if you switch the Page editor to Text instead of visual you can change the x and y dimensions from “1” to whatever value.

    It is still an annoying issue.

    I am an experienced web master who is BRAND NEW to Word Press. Needless to say, I am underwhelmed by having to dig up this info and plug in physical dimensions.
