• I have some WordPress sites on a VPS that I have updated from 3.8 to the lastest 3.8.1 release. Yet the Dashboard still shows a message that I need to update to 3.8.1. The update appeared to be successful on all three WordPress sites yet they all say that I still need to update.

I’m very confused so if anyone has any insight into what’s going on I would be most grateful.

  • It might be a bug.If you have successfully updated the version then please continue with your work.Wait some time and see whether wordpress will correct it or not.Is it affecting the functionality of the website?

Also please don’t open multiple post for same problem.

If you use WP Object Cache, clear it. This can be done, depending on what backend you use for WP Object Cache. Renaming object-cache.php to another name, would clear it as well.

If that doesn’t work, try restarting your PHP process.

In either case, the message would go away, after the cache expires, as per the TTL defined. Of course, it wouldn’t go away, if no expiration is defined.

Thanks for your input Pothi. I was finally able to clear the message by restarting apache.
