• We have just updated WordPress to version 3.8.1 and were then prompted to upgrade the database. When selecting yes to update it appears that update has been successful then returns to update prompt in a continuous loop.
I can no longer log in and access the dashboard or any other settings.
Have tried changing database version number to no avail. Help please!

  • Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Thanks for the post. For me it was W3 Cache. I simple went in through FTP, changed the plugin folder as directed. Errors popped up for W3. I changed those file names as well. BOOM. Success.
Then undid what I just did. Reset W3, and no problems.
    Thanks!!
