• I have a user claiming the AVG Internet Security program has found the virus named JS/HiddenLink.B on my WordPress site. I am using WordPress 3.8. The only posts I can find on this are three years old and I can not detect this virus with any of my tools. How can I check for this virus and how can I clean it up if I find it?

    Thanks

You could try one of several online scanners such as https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/ or you could download your files to your local computer and scan them directly with AVG for yourself.

If possible, have your client take a screen grab when the warning pops up or if available, send you a data dump that’s like a snapshot of the conditions at discovery. This would greatly narrow down where you should be looking for issues.

This does not mean there are not issues elsewhere. To be absolutely safe, wipe your entire site and restore from a known clean backup. Take a look at FAQ My site was hacked. Even though this is for hacks and not virus infections, the appropriate response is the same.
