    Hi WP Team,

I have a 9 wp sites in total, I upgraded to the new wp 3.5 on 3 of them before stopping.

It seems that the new WP does something weird to the drop down options in the back end (they seem fine on the front end). So for instance, when hover over say, “plugins” the drop down to pick installed, new, etc no longer shows up, you have to literally click it to get to any of the options.

And it seems to effect some plugins the same way. I thought perhaps it was the bullet proof security plugin compatibility issue but I actually disabled the plugins for the last upgrade and the problem still persist, no drop downs anywhere in the back end.

    Thanks guys,
    Sanaa

I really wish wp would find a way to make wp “mac” secure so we wouldn’t need all these security plugins. The amount of hacking attempts made on all my sites is just ridiculous.

You probably don’t need those security plugins in the first place. I’m not saying that they’re bad, just that it’s unlikely they’d stop most of the more commonplace “hacks” I see from day to day. At most, they block automated drive-by attacks.

    Three steps to web security:
    – Secure the server, or use a webhost that takes security seriously and knows what they’re doing.
    – Secure your own computers. The one time I got hacked was from a trojan program on my computer that snagged my FTP password.
    – Use trustworthy plugins and themes, written by authors that take security seriously as well. We do some automated scanning for security issues here, and we notify authors and fix plugins with problems, but there’s like 4 of us and nearly 30k plugins. We can only do so much. Read the reviews, see if the authors are active in the forums, use plugins that get good support.

Do those, and that’s like 99% of the problem fixed right there. ??
