wordpress 3.3 cannot change inove background

I am running inove on my site and had background color hack in place and since I updated to WP 3.3 on my site and another I cannot change the background color at all. It shows the correct color in dashboard but on the site it shows white instead of a dark chocolate brown around the edges . I had followed the setup from https://www.blog.web6.org/add-custom-background-wordpress-in-dashboard/ but since the upgrade all has gone south. you can view my site at whoisthemadness.com I am not sure if any other upgraders are having the same issue.
