• I’m running the intrepidity theme for my business site in WordPress. I just updated to 3.1.2, and now my website layout is way off. There are no longer tabs at the top (should be right under the banner heading) to click through the various pages. It appears to have been randomly placed at the very bottom of my main page: About, contact Us, etc is in the lower right hand corner. the url of my site is :https://bestratecarolinas.com/ Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it back to working properly?

is there a way to just reinstall 3.1.1?

I’m having the same issue. I ran through the validator and it looks as if wordpress is creating the markup errors, as in not closing tags. I’ve disabled plugins, at this point I’m positive it’s wordpress creating the errors, or at least something with wordpress not allowing the custom themes to be compatible.

Far more likely to be the custom theme. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

the theme and all plugins worked fine for the last 2 months, until the new WordPress update crased them. How quickly does WordPress usually correct these problems? Or is reinstalling 3.1.1 an option? Obviously we don’t want to have to change the theme of the business website every time a wordpress update crashes it…

also esmi, i’ve been trying to sort out the markup errors. But it looks like validator is reviewing the total source code? Where can i find this in WordPress? All i can find in are the individual editors (like Header, Footer, Style, etc), and i don’t know how to match up and pinpoint the code that needs to be corrected in these broken down editors. Is there a place i can find all of the code at once to implement the Validator changes?

If your theme and/or plugins haven’t been updated to remain compatible with WordPress, that’s not WP’s problem. There’s nothing that WordPress can correct.

i previewed the 2010 theme, and the page links are back where they should be at the top of the page. Does this help narrow down what needs to be fixed on the intrepidity theme?

So is there any way to go back to WordPress 3.1.1?

In the future, would you recommend waiting on updating wordpress until the theme says it’s compatible?

Does this help narrow down what needs to be fixed on the intrepidity theme?

No – I’m afraid it doesn’t. It just confirms that the theme is at fault.

would you recommend waiting on updating wordpress until the theme says it’s compatible

No. Not upgrading is one sure way of increasing the risk of being hacked.

I see your point about updating. But is there any way to get back to 3.1.1 until the theme is updated as well?

Do you have a pre-upgrade database backup?
