WordPress 2.9.1 Not Able To Add Javascript to Text Widget

I have a site that I am unable to add a text widget and insert any javascript in. When I add javascript code to the text box and click on save, it never saves. I have added the text widget, pressed save then added javascript code to the widget then save again but the little wheel just keeps turning round and round.

The theme is Zinepress is that makes a difference.

What am I missing here?
