• I have installed WordPress 2.7 today, after uninstalling Joomla 1.5…My hosting is with GoDaddy and the themes are showing in my admin panel as available for use and installed correctly. My site is not showing anything. I called GoDaddy and they said that the index in the root folder is missing. Maybe it was removed during the uninstall of Joomla. How should I go about fixing this? Do I make a blank index file and upload? I have 3 themes installed and none are showing up…. thanks

  • You may have an index.html file left over, try deleting that. Don’t delete index.php

Thanks for the reply. There’s no index file in the root folder at all, and my application of WP is installed to the root. Do I just make an index file and upload? This is what’s there….

That won’t work unfortunately. It’ll be a blank file. How did you install wordpress?

I installed it within GoDaddy… actually they installed it for me, and unfortunately won’t help me get it resolved….

you need to upload any missing files ..and you need to take them from the zip for the version you are trying to install.

In other words, if you installed 2.7 — then you go grab the 2.7 zip from the download page (look at the links at the top of this page), unzip the zip while maintaining the directory structure, and upload the PROPER index.php (at the very least).

You cant just create blank files, no.

Okay, so I should download WordPress to my computer and FTP the files back up? If I’m not mistaken, I can try that…and yes, I installed 2.7….thanks for your help

yeah whooami is right. If you uploaded everything using ftp then there are bound to be some missing files. There’s usually a log of what wasn’t transferred properly so you can upload files individually with regards to that.

Another way is to look for file sizes, if on your sierver a file reads as 0b – 0 bytes then you need to replace that again.
