• I was considering purchasing the WordPress book, but with what sounds like a lot of wild new changes in v2.1, is the book still relevant? Is there going to be some kind of updated version online at some site like O’Reilly’s Safari?

  • I would imagine that the book for WP 2 would be somewhat similar, but not the same. A book for 2.1 would only be out quickly if someone was writing it while testing out the TRAC verison prior to release. Other than that, it might be months away. The book will give you some basics of how to user WordPress in general, but 2.1 is still different enough you might find it frustrating.

Tough to say. What do others think?

The book will be *mostly* useful, since the changes in 2.1 are more in the nature of enhancements rather than modifications to the way WordPress works.

As for “some kind of updated version online,” that would be up to the publisher (and a question better put to them — assuming by “the WordPress book” you meant WordPress 2 Visual Quickstart Guide).
