I’m new to the support site, and may just not have ‘looked properly’.

But, I was lead to believe that with WordPress 2.1 (which I have installed, here: https://www.navilyn.com/blog), I was to get the new version of askimet, no?

  • And you did. The new Aksimet is 2.0.
The previous one distributed with 2.0.7 was 1.8.

The verison numbers for WP and Akismet doesn’t have to be the same.

I thought so, also. What’s your version?

I’m also told that the new Akismet has to basically start all over in “learning” what is spam. Can someone verify this?

    Sorry about my spelling, too!

My Akismet version is 1.2.1, despite having WordPress 2.1 installed…

Well, here is what I suspect:
During every upgrade we are told NOT to delete the wp-content directory, since it has all our customized themes, favorite plugins etc.
    And we proceed accordingly.
Now, don’t forget, your plugin folder is under wp-content… so your Akismet never-ever gets updated unless you go and upload the new file from the fresh 2.1. package.

Brilliant! I just copied the files from the content folder and now we’re up to date!
