wordpress 2.0.1 database time out problem

Has anyone else had a problem where their 2.0.1+ blogs database connections timeout?

I have several blogs on the same server.

All the 1.5.3 blogs are fine and always construct their page but the 2.0.1+ blogs sometimes have a database timeout so that the pages don’t get constructed and the page just comes up as a blank html document.

Anyone had this and is there anyway to solve it?
