Have an error: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught TypeError: array_key_exists(): Argument #2 ($array) must be of type array, null given in …/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/bootstrap.php:479

Earlier in the week, I created a staging site to make some updates to plugins. I had WordFence deactivated on that staging site. I deployed the staging site over live site. Maybe Wednesday.

Saturday, I updated WordFence. I noticed today that the site was down. It went down around the time I updated plugins.

I do have wordfence-waf.php in the root file.

I looked at ht.access and it doesn’t have WAF there.

The WordFence plugin is disabled currently.

What do I do to fix this and have WordFence active again?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @janismcadoo, thanks for getting in touch.

If there’s no reference to wordfence-waf.php in the .htaccess, I would expect the firewall to be reporting “Basic Protection”, but not a fatal error. It could certainly be worth trying to optimize the firewall to see if the .htaccess changes stay or revert back: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/

After this, try clearing the wfhits table (may appear with other characters in the database like wp_wfhits or similar). This should clear up the issue, although we’re testing to see if the error returns again with future scans.

If that doesn’t resolve anything, may I also ask which version of PHP you’re using?

    Thanks,
    Peter.

Can I just start over and reinstall the plugin? Would I use the WF Assistant plugin to remove all the old plugin data and then install WF again? Is there anything else I would need to do?

Right now, I have renamed the plugin file so it isn’t exactly uninstalled but at least the site is working. I can’t turn the plugin on and click that box to remove the files upon deactivation. Thank you.
