Wordfence vs Sitelock?

    So I have had a my fair share of hacks over my 15 years or so of doing this and for some reason have been too dumb to implement security measures, I have always just had weekly backups since its honestly easier than dealing with the hack itself (assuming our websites didn’t have any major changes that week)

    Anyway, I’ve finally had an issue I that made me look into some preventative maintenance. I read the article and know some of the stuff and am taking action but am wondering about Wordfence and Sitelock, my server pushes sitelock for obvious reasons, but it seems like most people just use Wordfence.

    Also is Wordfence something I need to constantly view or is it just like a firewall running in the background (I have ~15 sites)

  • Does Sitelock have a free version?

    WordFence does. That alone could be a major difference, depending on whether you plan to use premium features or not.

    Different Firewalls offer different functionalities. Choosing the firewall for your website depends on the requirements and functionalities you are looking for.

    As for your question, Wordfence is a localized firewall that stays on your web server hence it can perform server-side scans at a deeper level. Once you have installed and configured it, you don’t need to worry about anything else. You will receive alerts on scan results and be able to view Live Traffic on your site in case you need to.
