    The WordPress site I admin was working fine yesterday morning. I added some content but did not update any themes, plugins, etc. WordPress is up to date. Yesterday evening only the front page would load; all navigation links give me a white screen. The site is at sfcanada.org. I’m really stumped about what’s happening.

    This morning I deactivated all plugins one by one–when I deactivated Wordfence the problem was resolved and pages loaded normally. If I reactivate it the problem comes back and pages stop at the white screen. The only other active plugins are Theme My Login (if I deactivate this I have a hard time getting back in to the admin panel–I already fought with this once today and am loathe to deactivate it again. However, this is not a new plugin so there should not be any conflict).

    Any idea why this is happening or how I can fix it? Of all the plugins to lose, I don’t want to turn off Wordfence security because it has been so great up to this point! Thanks for any help.

    I saw there was an update today so ran that, and tried to reactivate the plugin just to see…got the message “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”

    I’ve also deleted the plugin and re-downloaded and installed, still throwing the fatal error.

    Hi sdramsey,
    I suggest checking the server error log file after trying to activate the plugin and watch for any related error message that would help in identifying the reason behind this issue.

    You can get in contact with your web host if you don’t know where is this error log file, or edit (wp-config.php) file and replace this line:
    define('WP_DEBUG', false);
    with:

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);
    define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
    define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

    Now, when you activate Wordfence plugin again and get this error, you can check this file (/wp-content/debug.log) for more detailed error messages.

    Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.
